It’s quiet on the balcony front.

The heather and ivy planters have survived a spell of subzero temperatures and are joined by evergreens; the Christmas spruce made a guest appearance out here, and for decoration I have two limp cypresses and a fir garland. The latter sadly plastic – for practical reasons. In the window boxes, the flower bulbs are still dormant.

The four plants embedded in my home-made pelargonium hibernation station seem to be ok so far, but it’s too early to tell whether they will survive the whole winter. I’ve given them a little water, about every 3-4 weeks, during mild weather. The back-up cuttings that I took in late autumn are struggling on the window sill.
